After lending a hand at the Carrot Ranch this week, I thought I’d share the great variety of responses to this week’s flash fiction prompt.
Carrot Ranch Literary Community
A character’s willingness to offer or receive help can show us something about personality, situation or history without the writer ‘telling’ the obvious about the fears, dilemmas, pride or compassion involved in the transaction.
Sometimes though, it becomes necessary to describe just that, so an unexpected response is understood.
This week, writers explored the offer of all manner of help in response to:
April 13th 2016 prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write about offering to help someone. What’s their situation? What’s yours? Do they think they need help? How is it received? Could you be misinterpreted?

Seems promising Wendy. I love the tutor already -no pussyfooting around feedback! I intend to update my progress weekly in Memoir Monday posts but so far have spent the rest of this week in bed. Hideous virus that seems to lay people low for weeks on end. I assume I would be different and have battled on a bit too much! PS Don’t read London Zoo if you come across the links. It’s a bit too raw xx

That’s nice of you to share the stories around, Lisa. There are some good ones there. You did a great job rounding them up.

Oh, I’m so sorry. I’ve been ill and busy and the lovely Norah then stepped in to do the compilation so the home visits wouldn’t have tied up with what was missing 😐

Actually it’s my WP glitch. I approve pingbacks, but then they randomly end up in spam at unexpected times. So sorry Geoff! Lisa and Norah did a splendid job but the Ranch hid your pingback!
