Lisa Reiter
Hi, I’m Lisa and in 2000, aged 34, I was diagnosed with terminal sarcoma and given less than 6 months to live. After floundering around getting my head around cancer not being as curable as the adverts of the time were suggesting, I delved into an unknown and for me, a then uncomfortable world of 'alternative' therapies.
I'm now 51 and still here. As my oncologist said at one point, I'm an 'experiment of one' which means no scientist would like to draw conclusions! However, I am far from alone in getting success from looking to diet and mind-body techniques to help my body to do its own healing. I’m writing my story for anyone who wants some inspiration or understanding of what being in this situation is all about. Writing it is slow going so I'm using this blog to keep me company as well as discuss the challenges of writing about it all.
If I manage to inspire just one person to feel a bit more in control of their own situation, it will all have been worthwhile.

Lovely photos Lisa. That looks like a Springer spaniel. We have a cocker spaniel but boy can he spring. I imagine yours like ours is an absolute joy boy.
The last photo is definitely a story wanting to be told. I enjoy Wordless Wednesday and Silent Sunday for just that reason – there is a kind of peace that emanates from the choice of photos (yours are perfect) and the lack of words.

Somehow a walk with dogs is always a bit more fun, isn’t it?! That’s why I had to include a picture of them. These dogs actually belong to the friend I was with – both lovely and I think Jodie is actually a cocker spaniel, though young and very springy! Zoe the collie is 13 and was a wee bit weary after our 2 1/2 hours! But then, they must run at least twice the distance with their to-ing and fro-ing!
I’m enjoying Wordless Wednesday / Silent Sunday – no pressure to think – just to enjoy. Thanks for the introduction to them – are there any rules? (Do we care?!)

Couldn’t agree more that walking with dogs is fun and also incredibly social. We have two dogs also – an old german shepherd who is tiring and our cocker. The number of people who stop and chat as the dogs give them permission to talk to total strangers is amazing. They break all barriers and two nights ago we invited for a return dinner a couple that we had met on one (a number) of our dog walks.
As for rules – I’ve never bothered. I did try to find out who to link to and did find a badge. It originated somehere on google blogger/blogspot but I find the google blog site so difficult to negotiate that I usually just end up throwing up my hands and saying “who cares”. With the blogging I rediscovered my photographs and I have the option of using Wed and Sunday as days where I relax from blogging (if I feel like it) and just lose myself in the tranquility of the scene I have posted.

We tried hard to work out how we could have had puppies at the time we got our cats as kittens but unfortunately our land doesn’t lend itself to fencing on all sides and we’re right next to a bridleway! Sometimes the cats come for a walk though! Perhaps one Silent Sunday!

Beautiful! But sad, as you explain. Oh the stories it could tell!

With stunning photos like that, who needs words? The last one is my favorite: a whole story hidden in that one!

Yes! See my response to Sarah – it’s eerily silent around there like the birds feel its sadness (or did my ears shut down because I did?!)
Damn, supposed to be a ‘no effort’ post and I feel myself gearing up to research it now!

I’m getting that there are no words on “Wordless Wednesday” but what is it, exactly? Are there specific rules? Weekly themes?
I love all of these photographs but the last one is gorgeous!!! (That needed three exclamation points. Yes, it did.)

Irene Waters at Relections and Nightmares put me up to it! There’s also Silent Sunday – I’ve never looked for rules – it just seems an excuse to post a few pics without comment.
This was a fab walk yesterday .. They flooded a village in 1966 when they created the reservoir .. As you might guess from that picture! It’s a quiet, quiet spot..
